Hi,
I wanted to send you a quick newsletter about updates for DonnaBellas Angels. Our board met last month and is putting together new plans for providing art.
One of those ideas is to start a “kindness campaign” that will kick off later this summer. If you have never heard of a kindness campaign, the idea is to pay it forward in creating a more kind world by helping give a kind word or action to others around you. You can provide kind words to family, friend, co-worker, or a stranger. By sharing kindness, you help brighten the life of another. We will have suggestions of places to donate the cards like nursing homes, shelters, etc.
DonnaBellas Angels is going to put together a few easy ways for you to be able to take action and help spread kindness to let someone know you care and they are not alone. We plan to offer images that you can text to someone, downloadable art cards that you can print and share, and ideas for creating art that you can share with others.
For creating art, I will put together some videos to help guide you. If you think, “I am no good at art!” then consider changing that idea. As a preschooler or toddler, you did not judge but got lost in the creativity. It was school art that taught you to judge.
Art or creative action has been shown to be good for mental health. Consider reframing the conversation like you would for physical exercise. You know daily exercise is good for your body just to move. In taking small actions, you don’t let the thought of “I’m not as good as a professional athlete” stop you from exercising.
Give yourself the permission to keep a creative practice easy and doable. If you would like to start and want ideas, here is a post with a doodle art project. After you finish, consider sharing it with someone along with kind words to let them know you care.
The pencil sketch art below is an idea for a future painting. I would have loved to have shared color art with you but instead am taking small action by posting this quick newsletter update. I am not letting the perfect be the enemy of the good. I also hope you find ways to take quick action in sharing kindness with others too.
Lovingly Yours,
