In Christian theology, there are three theological virtues (faith, hope, and charity), which are spiritual gifts of God. Faith (πίστις) is steadfastness in belief . Hope (eλπίς) is the expectation of and desire of receiving while refraining from despair and capability of not giving up. Love or Charity (άγάπη) is selfless, unconditional, and voluntary loving-kindness to others such as helping your neighbors without the expectation of reward. The Bible references the three virtues in 1 Corinthians 13:13, "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."
